Natural Resources Defense Council
Natural Resources Defense Council's (NRDC) purpose is to safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends. NRDC was founded in 1970 by a group of attorneys and law students at the forefront of the modern environmental movement. NRDC has grown to be one of the most effective environmental organizations in the world. NRDC works to restore the integrity of the elements that sustain life -- air, land, and water -- and to defend endangered natural places and communities. Working through the government and the courts to craft, enact, and enforce policies and laws that will influence individuals, agencies, and corporations that drive cultural, market, and behavioral change, it combines scientific, policy, advocacy, and legal expertise to develop analytical frameworks for policies that address climate change, pollution and human health, and the preservation of the natural world.
