The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation is excited to welcome Malcolm McClain as Program Officer, growing the Program Team’s capacity and ability to support our partners. Malcolm joins our organization with both practical programmatic experience and deep research skills that will advance our vision of a more just and equitable New Jersey.
Malcolm (he/him/his) joins the Dodge Foundation with experience in community-based programming, grants management, and program evaluation. In his role as Program Officer, he will shape and oversee critical Foundation relationships, serving as a catalyst and connector.
Most recently, Malcolm served as the Director of Urban Agriculture & Food Initiatives at Greater Newark Conservancy, a Newark-based nonprofit that fosters collaboration at the intersections of environmental, food, and racial justice to promote the health and wellbeing of Newark residents. At the Conservancy, Malcolm led programming related to community engagement, urban agriculture, and neighborhood and citywide food access. In 2022, he secured over $500K in multi-year government funding to develop new farmers’ markets in the city and connect local farmers, residents, and organizations with resources to expand the city’s food production and distribution infrastructure.
Malcolm holds a master’s and bachelor’s in sociology from Lehigh University and Muhlenberg College, respectively. He is a proud fourth generation resident of Newark, NJ, where he currently resides in the city’s West Ward.
“As we continue to transform our grantmaking, partnerships, and internal operations to center racial equity and justice, we are thrilled to have Malcolm’s experience to help ensure these values show up in all aspects of our work,” says Tanuja M. Dehne, President and CEO of the Dodge Foundation.
As a core member of our Program Team, Malcolm joins our organization at an important moment as we implement new program priorities and continue to deepen our focus on partners that address the root causes and repair of racial inequity across New Jersey.
